Team basketball at its best: U16 Blues beat Bury St Edmunds 112–67

North Herts Knights U16 Boys produced a superb all-round team performance to secure a commanding 112–67 victory over Bury St Edmunds Bulldogs on Saturday.

The Knights set the tone from the opening tip, applying relentless defensive pressure and playing at a high tempo at both ends of the court. Their aggressive defence disrupted the Bulldogs’ offence throughout the first half, helping North Herts build a substantial lead and limiting Bury St Edmunds to just 29 points before the break.

Whilst the final score reflected the Knights’ dominance, the performance was built on outstanding team basketball. The ball moved freely, players shared scoring responsibilities and contributions came from across the roster as North Herts maintained their intensity for all four quarters.

Leading the scoring for the home side was Emilijus with an excellent 28 points, while Owen added 23 points in another strong offensive display. Isaac and Ryan both contributed 16 points, showcasing the depth and balance within the Knights squad.

One of the standout features of the game was the Knights’ perimeter shooting. With five different players converting three-point shots, the scoring threat came from all areas of the floor and made it difficult for the Bulldogs to contain the attack.

The victory was also notable for the debut of Joshua, who made his first appearance for the Knights. Although not among the leading scorers, Joshua impressed with a mature defensive performance, strong team play and a willingness to do the hard work that helped the team maintain its defensive intensity throughout the game.

The coaching staff were particularly pleased with the collective nature of the win. Every player contributed and the Knights demonstrated the unselfish style of basketball that has become a hallmark of the team. Strong defence, disciplined execution and excellent teamwork laid the foundation for an impressive 45-point victory.

With contributions throughout the squad and a commitment to playing for one another, North Herts Knights U16 Boys delivered one of their most complete performances of the season and provided an exciting showcase of team basketball.
