Our History

North Herts Knights is an established community Basketball Club that has been running for 25 years.

Starting as a single Senior Mens team, it has grown year by year and is now the one of the largest Community Basketball Clubs in Hertfordshire, and one of the largest in the entire country. The club now has almost 200 active members who attend sessions weekly and this number is only continuing to grow each season.

After starting with just a single Senior Mens team, Knights 2 was started in 2012 due to an increase in players. The teams are entered into Division 1 and 2 of the Herts Premier League and have been very successful, most notably in 2017-2018 where they combined to win 5 of the 6 trophies on offer across the HPL.

Alongside the success of our Senior Teams, the club’s Youth Programme has grown year on year. Starting out as a small community-based programme with 3 sessions a week across various age groups, the club launched its first youth national league team in 2014. In 2024

Our Youth Community Programme is the heart and soul of the club and has continued to grow each season, with close to 100 players attending weekly sessions! Furthermore, our Youth Competitive Programme has improved astronomically in its short existence. Starting as just 1 Competitive U15 Team back in 2014-2015, we now have National League teams competing at U12, U14, U16 and U18 age groups, as well as JCVL teams at U12, U14 & U16. We now provide competitive basketball to 75 players each week. These teams continue to grow in strength each season, with the 2019-2020 season being our strongest in recent history, with our U12 and U14 Local League Teams both posting 2nd place finishes in their leagues, while the U16 and U18 National League Teams both racked up a record number of wins.

The club has also had players represent the county as well as attending Basketball England's Aspire Programme, with this number growing each year.
